Workload Management: More Than Just Job Scheduling

It is often thought that the terms "workload management" and
scheduling are synomnous. This is not the case. Scheduling is
in fact just one out of five important aspects of cluster
workload management. This paper discusses the role of
scheduling within the wider area of workload management,
and illustrates how scheduling is interwoven with the other
components. In addition, we show how to apply these principles
to real world challenges of building and managing clusters.
