CACR Research: Catalina Real-Time Transient Survey
Project Title: Catalina Real-time Transient Survey
CACR Contact: Andrew Drake
Website: http://crts.caltech.edu
The Catalina Real-Time Transient Survey (CRTS) provides an open stream of astronomical events that are available in real-time. This is the first and only fully open synoptic sky survey data and event stream. CRTS is a synoptic astronomical exploration that covers tens of thousands of square degrees of the sky in order discover rare in interesting transient phenomena. The survey utilizes data taken by the three dedicated telescopes of the Catalina Sky Survey (CSS) NEO project. CRTS automates the event discovery and classification processes so that robust decisions can enable intelligent human and robotic follow up.
