NIH Awards $1.78M for An Open and Scalable Stochastic Simulation Library for Biology

CACR was awarded $1.78M from the National Institutes of Health for An Open and Scalable Stochastic Simulation Library for Biology. The goal is to develop a modular, open-source, software library for efficient discrete stochastic simulation of biochemical reaction systems, with support for a variety of popular programming languages. Implementations will be provided for sequential and parallel computers, as well as field programmable gate arrays. The work will build on StochKit, a stochastic simulation library, developed at UCSB. The team consists of CACR, Caltech’s Biological Network Modeling Center, UCSB, and Keio University. Dr. Mark Stalzer, CACR’s Executive Director, is the principal investigator.
