Matthew Graham, Caltech Title: Mirabile Dictu: The Semantics of the Wondrous Abstract: Since the dawn of time, mankind has been obsessed with the meaning and significance of dynamic events in the night sky. The emerging generation of synoptic sky surveys continues this tradition but also brings new challenges. In this talk, I will review the current infrastructure that supports this field and discuss semantic issues that need to be resolved.
