Alberto Accomazzi, CfA Title: The search for structure in the bibliosphere Abstract: Scholarly publications, as the expression of scientific research, provide high-level descriptions of the work and intellectual effort accomplished by the scientists. Over time, connections between papers are estabilished though a number of relations, including citations, co-readership, and links to objects and data products. Such relationships can be used to organize the papers in a semantic network characterized by different degrees of clustering, depending on the metric used. I will show our current efforts in probing the structure of this network and in visualizing the results of the clustering process. Tags: data mining, semantic network, bibliographies, visualization |
