Lambda Kappa Kappa
Constitutional Drafting

I. Goals

The purpose, and all work of our institution must revolve around fundamental truths. These such truths are represented in our statement sheet, yet conceptualized in the following goals:

A. Long term goal: We establish as our long term goal to take upon the task of directly or indirectly increase population of Latin American students on the campus, until it reaches a significant enough level, reflecting society.
B. Short term goal: In order to accomplish our long term goal, we must establish short term focus points. These goals will center upon creating a better environment for all students on the campus, with an interest in our Latin Heritage as our common link.

These fundamental truths may not be changed , for they are the basis for our existence. Furthermore successful implementation of our short term goal is vital if we are to achieve our long term goal. Only through unity, and hard work can we realize our ideals. Every member must have our goals clearly in mind as they become part of the group, and as they work in Campus and in the community through Lambda Kappa Kappa.

Lambda Kappa Kappa is meant to be dynamic. Therefore the rest of this constitution may be challenged and reformed:

Constitution Amendments .- if any part of the constitution (except for the fundamental truths) seems to fail, it may challenged by any full ranking member in good status, and then may be eliminated or changed through a board meeting, in which there must be agreement of at least 2/3 of the board. All changes and problematic sections must be recorded, and made part of the historical recompilations ofLambda Kappa Kappa .

II. Achieving Our Goals

Several point must be made clear as steps to support our ideals, and achieve our goals. These such steps include basic tasks and ideas such as:

A. Getting together and discussing all which pertains Latin American culture (i.e. Latin American politics, issues etc...) and is of our interest, so as to create an atmosphere that feels like home.
B. Implementing programs that will get us involved in the campus as well as in the Fort Worth community. (i.e. social gatherings, community service, etc...)

Remember, that the whole purpose of coming together is to learn from how diverse we are, and get together because of our common interest in heritage. We in no way plan to recapture our heritage. We plan to use our common qualities to go into the future and interact with other cultures. All members and officers must be open minded and willing to deal with people of different cultures and lifestyles.

III. Organization

The body of the organization are the members, guided by a group of its own members, classified as officers . Anyone who meets the next criteria may become a member if he wishes to:

  1. Must have at least a 2.75 cumulative G.P.A. (Not applicable to new students).
  2. Must be male (not because of gender differences, but because it is easier to secure a bond individuals of a common gender, in our case among men given their primordial similar interests).
  3. Must have cancelled payment of dues ($30 a semester; may be changed to meet the needs of the organization.)
  4. All new members must initially go through a pledge period (described under programs). After such he may be considered a full ranking member ofLambda Kappa Kappa .

Special Case: Faculty and staff may become full ranking members ofLambda Kappa Kappa . They must complete all requirements, same as students, except for the GPA requirements. The only restriction they have, is that they may not be appointed President ofLambda Kappa Kappa .

Membership to this organization may not be discriminated upon bases of race, religions beliefs, or personal beliefs of the other current members (specially the officers). Once a student is a member, if he fails to comply with the minimum G.P.A. he will be considered to be on Poor Status (described below).

Every member is encouraged to:

  1. Attend at least half of the meetings.
  2. Be part/attend at least two program of the social, service, and community type, and one fund raiser.
  3. Create and bring forward programs and projects forLambda Kappa Kappa .

The status of a member can be classified as good or poor status, given the next criteria:

Poor Status - When a member has failed to
a) pay his dues, or
b) attend the minimum number of encouraged meetings,
c) attend the recommended number of programs for the semester,
d) or, in case of an officer, failed to fully complete his requirements in the past semester, then

he will not being allowed to run or hold an office for the following semester. Furthermore if a member keeps poor status for more than two consecutive semesters he will be dismissed as an official member of the brotherhood.

There are six different types of officers. The collection of all officers are considered to form the board of Lambda Kappa Kappa . The board is the group responsible for Lambda Kappa Kappa's life and functions. The officers are:

In case it is denied (because of lack of funds, or lack of formal reason for over spending) then the program director must cover the difference.
